This collection contains a photo copy of a letter written by Union soldier E. R. Perry to his aunt in New Hope, Pennsylvania, on November 23, 1863 from Fort Warren, Boston Harbor, Massachusetts. The letter mentions captured officers from the "rebel ram Atlanta", now prisoners of war.

Scope and Content This collection contains two transcribed letters. The first letter of the collection was written by Hosea Garrett, Jr. to his uncle, Reverend Hosea Garrett, on August 1, 1864. This letter provides a detailed account of the Atlanta Campaign, and the fighting that occurred on July 27, 1864. Scope and Contents of the Records This collection contains transcripts of letters written by John Craig Evans to his wife, Annie, from December 1864- June 1865. Most of the letters were written in Petersburg, Virginia and consist of questions about his children, family, and home life. Nathaniel Wiley Harbin Civil War letter

Scope and Content

This collection consists of a letter written by Nathaniel Wiley Harbin to his father about the First Battle of Manassas (Bull RUn). Harbin gives an account of the battle, where he acted as a "skirmisher," and describes the rout of the Federal army and the supplies they abandoned during their retreat. Harbin includes a casualty list for his company and writes about the capture of Federal prisoners.
